Join us for three full days of woodturning! This course is designed to help you progress in woodturning journey beyond the basics, and into the world of sharpening woodturning tools. This can be a truly vexing problem for many woodturners, and we have been asked for years to create a class like this one – so we are proud to offer it for you now. Sharpening is indeed more complex than people realize, and it is a skill that takes time and practice to master. In this new 3 day course, we will examine the essential tools for spindle and face turning; and discuss various approaches to sharpening them. As we sharpen each tool, we will head over to the lathe to learn how to present, hold, and use the tool properly with various woodturning exercises. We will also examine In this class we will use 4 different types of sharpening systems including: a basic bench grinder with static tool rests, the popular Oneway Wolverine system with a Varigrind Jig, a complete Kodiak Jig system with CBN wheels, and a Tormek wet stone grinder with jigs.
While we can supply tools for this class, we strongly recommend that you bring your own tools so that you learn with the tools you will actually use at home.
