A note from our Director.

Thank you for visiting the North Carolina Furniture School, I look forward to meeting you in an upcoming class.

NCFS is North Carolina’s home for classes in furniture making, woodturning, and DIY woodworking classes for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. We offer 1 day classes, 2 day workshops, 3 day Master Classes, 1 week intensives, and an annual foreign study immersion. We are also proud to be the only woodworking school in the country offering a full range of equipment and wood for sale at discounts to our students. In addition to offering classes and discounts on woodworking and woodturning equipment, we can help you with any hardwood or cabinetmaking supplies you need.

This is a comprehensive campus offering classes in all types of woodworking including: traditional hand tool methods, machine tool woodworking, woodturning, and advanced digital fabrication. We also host annual special events like the Women’s Woodturning Weekend, or the Youth Woodworking Camp.

New in 2019, we proudly offer six class types with expert instructors for each of areas of study:

  • Session: 1 – 4 hour classes that focus on individual skills or techniques
  • Single Day Class: 8 hour classes that explore individual topics in depth
  • Master Class: range from 1 – 3 days, and explore skills and topics in depth
  • Intensive Course: project based 1 week courses ranging from 5 – 9 days
  • Immersion Course: explore topics in depth over 13 weeks
  • International Study: travel to the studios and workshops of the world’s best craftspeople for in-depth study

In addition to our outstanding classes we are home to the NCFS Woodturners Club. They meet the first Saturday of each month at NCFS from 9 – 12:00. The NCFS Woodturners Club attracts people from across North Carolina for in-house demonstrations, special classes, woodturning workshops, guest demonstrators, field trips, and more. Each meeting begins with an ‘Instant Gallery’ where members bring in their recent projects to share for group critique and discussion. Club members get special discounts on our classes, equipment, and lumber. We invite you to visit the NCFS Woodturners Club.

Come see what’s new at the North Carolina Furniture School or give me a call to discuss your projects and woodworking interests. I look forward to hearing from you!
