Study Woodworking in Japan
NCFS Woodworking Study Abroad Returns with trip to Japan!
We are proud to announce that the NCFS Study Abroad initiative has added a new program! We are working on trip logistics now, final details will be announced soon. If you are interested in this opportunity we need to hear from you ASAP!
Visit Kioto, Osaka, Tokyo and learn woodworking from multi-generational Master Craftsmen!
Plan to travel with us in March or April, 2025 for approximately 10 days. Student participants will get the rare opportunity to take classes in hybridizing traditional woodworking with CNC. Spouses (and/or guest travelers) will enjoy special guided outings to shop, dine, and see the sights! This special class opportunity will be co-taught by multi-generational Master Carpenters in the beautiful rural community of Nishiawakura, Japan, as well as ShopBot COO, Brian Owen, and NCFS Director, Stuart Kent. Our objective for this year’s program is to challenge your understanding of CNC in the workshop, and help to expand your skills.
All of our foreign study programs are open to class participants and their spouses or guests. We will guide you through urban and rural experiences, enjoy a range of dining experiences, visit important cultural heritage sites, and major geologic features in the country.
Let us know by email if you are interested in travel study with the North Carolina Furniture School. We will provide trip details in the weeks ahead. If you are interested in joining us, send us an email:
