NCFS Class designation 1001
What is digital fabrication? What is CNC? CAD? CAM? How does it work – and what does it do?
ShopBot and the North Carolina Furniture School have teamed up to offer comprehensive CNC training for all skill levels. Introduction to CNC is the first of two classes in the Basic Training series at NCFS. We offer ShopBot Basic Training classes on the first and third weeks of the month. Students must complete both levels of Basic Training prior to enrolling in classes designated as 2000 or higher, as general machine and software proficiencies are required in those courses. CNC classes are limited to 12 students and are held in the NCFS Computer Lab, located in downtown Farmville, NC.
This class will familiarize you with the terminology, user interface, and the general concepts of digital fabrication. It will also introduce the world of possibilities these tools can open up to you. We will explore the software, common tooling, and the CNC machines. Prior to coming to your training, we ask that you please download the demo version of VCarve Pro, found on http://www.vectric.com/ , and familiarize yourself with the software to get the most out of the class.
Classes begin each day at 9:00AM and end at 5:00PM. Coffee and refreshments are provided each morning starting at 8:30AM, and there are numerous local options within walking distance for breakfast and lunch.
