It’s hard to believe but the North Carolina Furniture School is nearing 5 years old. The school began as a small project in the back of my cabinet shop in Winterville and has grown into it’s own space located at 3749 W Wilson St., Farmville, NC 27828. NCFS has become my full time pursuit and I couldn’t be happier about it. There are a lot of exciting things happening over the next year including our return to the North Carolina State Fair, Raleigh, October 11 – 22, and our first year at the Virginia Woodturning Symposium Fishersville, VA, November 3 & 4 2018. We are now planning our second annual Women’s woodworking event at NCFS for April and are thrilled about how it’s coming together. I will post more on each of these as they mature.

We currently have 6 full size lathe stations and 14 mini lathes for woodturning workshops and classes with up to 20 participants. We also have a fully equipped furniture workshop with 4 table saws, 2 planers, 2 shapers, 3 drill presses, etc… Currently we offer Single Day Classes, Weekend Workshops, One Week Intensives, and new for 2019 – an annual Foreign Study Immersion that will lead a group of students abroad to study with Master Craftsmen at their home shops and tour cultural destinations along the way (we’ll probably squeeze in a little fun and R&R in there too). 😉

So as our first year in the new location comes to a close, we have learned how the shop needs to operate and are reorganizing to meet those needs. We have also listened to your feedback regarding and spent a ton of time redesigning it to work better for you (and us). At the time I am writing this we have classes listed through January and I am wrapping up the course details to finish listing through early summer 2019. All NCFS class tickets are now available through Eventbrite to make your booking process simple, safe, and reliable. Just look at the course you are interested in on the classes page and click the ticket widget in the course description to reserve your seat. The new site is packed with social media integration to keep things fresh and up to the minute – so be sure to follow us on: facebook, instagram, and twitter. Of course you know that a website is never complete, so be on the lookout for a full estore, new videos, regular blog postings, and much more. Don’t forget to sign up for our new quarterly newsletter.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

    Hey Stuart,
I signed up for a wood turning class during the NC State Fair visit in 2018. Due to my crazy schedule I haven’t been able to get there yet. Do you have such a class in the very near future?
